Letter to Our Neighbors

Hello! We are homeowners from the Harbor View area of unincorporated Seminole who are excited about the opportunity to incorporate into the City of Seminole. Incorporating into the city provides many benefits, but we first must gather support from our 55% of our neighbors in order to start the annexation process through a ballot referendum.

To help rally support and communicate the benefits of joining Seminole, we've created this website dedicated to the cause.

You might be wondering, "Why should I join the city?" There are many benefits, but we view these 4 as being the main reasons:

1. Lower Property Taxes: By joining Seminole, most homeowners can expect to save hundreds of dollars each year on property taxes, as the city's tax rate is lower the the county's. See our tax calculator to determine how this change could affect you.
2. Restrictions on Short-Term Rentals: Seminole restricts short-term rentals in residential areas, ensuring a quieter and more stable community environment. Short-term rentals not allowed for a term of less than one (1) month, more than three (3) times in any consecutive twelve (12) month period.
3. Access to City Services : Enjoy access Seminole's recreation center, summer camps for children, and other amenities available to city residents.
4. Reduced Trash and Recycling Rates: The city has negotiated rates with Waste Pro for trash and recycling collection, further reducing your bills and reducing the number of trash trucks driving up and down our neighborhood streets.

Our Goal

Our goal with the Let's Join Seminole! initiative is to incorporate 523 properties (highlighted in green on the map below) into the City of Seminole. To see if your home is included in this effort, take a look at our Annexation Area page, where a complete list of properties can be found.

We understand that this change will impact everyone differently, but we truly believe it will be a positive step for the homeowners and residents in our area.

How can you help?

1. Sign the petition - This is the most important thing you can do! We must collect signatures from 55% of property owners in our target area. If you are a property owner in our target area and you would like this change, please sign our petition.
2. Send us your questions - If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at team@letsjoinseminole.com. We'll compile responses on our FAQs page and keep you updated through our newsletter, which you can sign up for on our website.
3. Put up a yard sign - Our volunteers will deliver a Let's Join Seminole! sign for each petition signature (one per property). Please consider showing your support by displaying the yard sign prominently in your front yard. This simple act will not only demonstrate your support but also help us raise awareness about our effort across our community.
